Game Summary
Flying
Trapeze is the first game of Xtreme Circus series. Flying Trapeze is a
Kinect role playing game, and it targets all the players who want to
enjoy the realistic trapeze experience at home. Flying Trapeze engages
player in performing basic body movements in reality to control the
virtual character in the game. Player will also gain circus reputation
if he/she has done well in the game. Throughout the game, player can
both enjoy visual delight from moving the virtual character and a sense
of accomplishment from earning circus reputation.
The implementation for Flying Trapeze can be mainly broken down into three parts: Kinect data processing, character behavioral animation, and design of environment. In the game, player should jump, raise hands,or roll hands in front of Kinect. According to human joints change captured by Kinect, the virtual character will generate a corresponding stunt animation. In response to the virtual character's stunt, non player characters in the game will also intelligently generate interactive animations, such as stretch out hands or retract hands. Each stunt animation and interactive animation will be implemented by blending physically based animation, animation created by mocap and animation rigged by motionbuilder. As the game goes on, player needs to control the virtual character to pass through rings, avoid animals, and get away from fire with a series of appropriate stunts.
Flying trapeze has five levels. The level of difficulty will increase as the player progresses through each level. The difficulty will be increased in the form of number and kind of obstacles that will be presented to each player. The game in general has two scoring system. In each level, player must do a combination of stunts to reach the minimum score requirement in a small scoring system. Once player has successfully completed one level, player's circus reputation in the entire system will increase. At the end of one month developing the game, Flying trapeze will be finished and tutorials for the game will also be made available.
